3QC provided LEED navigation, energy performance analysis, and modeling for California ISO’s (California Independent System Operator) new consolidated headquarters facility located in Folsom, California. California ISO, a public benefit corporation managing California’s statewide electrical grid and distribution system, built their new facility to create an environmentally friendly campus headquarters in one location eliminating the need to lease multiple office space locations to house their employees. The new campus style facility consists of three connected wings totaling 278,000 SF. The public wing includes board chambers, meeting rooms and interpretive exhibits on California’s electrical system while administrative staff members are housed in the office wing. The third wing, Mission Critical, is a secure, redundant command center for 24 hour uninterrupted operations.
Being leaders forging the state’s energy future, California ISO had very ambitious “green” building goals for this new facility including high efficiency systems, thermal energy storage, and photovoltaic power generation. The project received 55 LEED credit points and achieved Platinum Certification.
