LEED Silver
Sacramento, CA
The new Ernest Tschannen Eye Institute supports UC Davis Health’s world-class Ophthalmology Department and houses clinical, research, administration and support services for patients, faculty and staff. The $35 million facility was made possible by a generous donation by Ernest Tshannen, himself a recipient of eye surgery at UC Davis. The 60,000 SF building is a four-story addition and includes approximately 14,000 SF of renovated space in an existing facility provides significantly more space than the department currently occupies. The clinic space includes OSHPD level 3 ophthalmology and generic clinics while the fourth floor will be used as office space. It is anticipated that two AHU’s will serve the new addition while the renovated space will rely on existing VAV AHU. The project is being constructed under a Integrated Project Delivery/Design Build Methodology.
3QC’s responsibilities included assisting with the development of and documentation of the Owners Project Requirements (OPR) and LEED v4 Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning, including Building Enclosure Commissioning to achieve additional credits. The project complies with University policies for Green Building Design and Clean Energy Standards and Sustainable Transportation Practices. As required by these policies, the project adopts the principals of energy efficiency and sustainability to the fullest extent possible. The Eye Institute has the goal of achieving LEED Silver certification.
