UC Davis Health, 48X Complex

The 48X Complex (Sacramento Ambulatory Surgery Center) will increase UC Davis Health’s operating room capacity by constructing up to 262,000 gross square feet of OSHPD Level 3 space. The project comprises a new outpatient facility with 17 ORs/Procedure Rooms, 50 Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACUs), and 14 overnight stay rooms. The building will also include public spaces, clinical support, operations space, imaging space, and physical therapy space as well as administration support space to facilitate patient support and education.

The 48X Complex is being delivered using a Progressive Design-Build Approach emphasizing Integrated Project Delivery processes. This delivery method requires intensive and close collaboration between the Progressive Design-Builder (DPR/SmithGroup), the Construction Manager (Cambridge CM), all consultants, UC Davis Health staff, HCAI, the Campus Fire Marshal, design-build and design-assist trade contractors, and other project participants.

As a collaborative team member, 3QC is working upfront to establish Cx protocols and processes with all team members to ensure that we compliment the work of other team members. Our Commissioning Process was tailored specifically for this Project and has incorporated the objectives of LEAN Principles and the Design-Build delivery method to help the DB team achieve their schedule milestones. 3QC’s dedicated Cx team is working closely to develop stakeholder trust, identify risk, plan for efficiency opportunities, and ensure the project team focuses on the quality requirements to maximize project value for UCDH.
