3QC provided building commissioning services for the new 20,000 SF courthouse in Mammoth Lakes, California as part of the Judicial Council of California’s ID/IQ contract for quality assurance services. The new court serves the Superior Court of California, County of Mono and consolidated two facilities – services performed at the historic Bridgeport courthouse and a leased space in Mammoth Lakes. The new courthouse significantly improved space for current court services, and provided available space for new judicial services, and improved security and access to the court. Located directly off of Highway 203 at the corner of Sierra Park Road, it is at the town’s entrance and is part of a larger government complex center. With easy public access, the building is set back from the street and includes a glass wall designed to enhance the natural beauty and landscape of the local terrain as well as adding the benefit of natural lighting to the facility. A grove of deciduous quake aspen trees added at the front of the facility provides a buffer between the parking lot and the courthouse and will shade the east glass wall in the summer while allowing sun in during the winter. The court was successfully occupied in September of 2011.
LEED® certification was not pursued on this project; however, we performed LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning to optimize building efficiency and functionality. We provided this service on LEED required systems (HVAC systems and associated controls, central building automation system, lighting and day-lighting controls both interior and exterior, domestic hot water systems).
The following supplemental systems were also commissioned:
